With many students of the world getting interested in online education many colleges and universities are also outsmarting each other in offering educational programs whether in certificates, degree or doctoral programs. The competition is also going global with many players in Asia also competing big universities in the US and Europe.
The Appalachian State University is also one of the learning institutions that are now developing this online education program into a big market for international students. This time, the university already offers online degree-completion program including BS in Health Promotion. It said that this is the first online undergraduate program offered by the university. This new offering would benefit many people in North Carolina, as well as its neighboring places, especially those involved or working in health-related jobs in educational institutions, government agencies and private corporations.
Alan Utter, director and professor of Health Promotion Program, said the university wants students that are now fascinated with the school education system of the 21st century which is already online education program. In this way, their career education is really following the trend of the new millennium.
Utter said this health degree program covers health epidemiology, environmental health, nutrition, health-behavior change and health appraisal. The degree will be enhanced also with an internship program as a business minor program.
Tom Fisher, university director for the Division of Educational outreach and Summer Programs, said this health degree program of the school would really help North Carolina as far as addressing health and wellness of the people especially the concerns of all citizens in the counties.
Utter said the instructional program every week for this online degree in health will run at least five or seven hours as this will be incorporated with online forums so that students can immediately respond to their classmates and faculty members.
Right now, Chris Shreve, a cohort advisor and HLES instructor is assisting the faculty in developing their strategies for this online course offered by the university.
