The BBC News reported that this is unusual scenario as compared to last year’s. In fact, the A level result has also prompted thousands of students to stay in internet places just to get hold of the results.

A school website has in also experienced 3,000 hits during the first three hours after the result was posted in the internet. Even the Website of the Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) which give free spaces also experience the same thing.

A record showed by BBC News in the internet has it that on Thursday last week, the searches made by internet student users has reached to 140,000 as compared to last year’s which was only 130,000. The number of searches doubled in last year’s.

On Friday, UCAS reported the confirmation of around 221,901 students as compared to last year’s only 219,465 students, and there are also students numbering about 92,155 who also waited to be counted.

In a related development, a US researcher has reported that universities in the US that offer online degree courses doubled in one year only. He showed statistics that there is 34% number of universities that offer online courses as compared to last years 1.5% only. Many colleges and universities of the world are now using the internet as part of the school’s online administration which gave service to students such as payment systems, application forms and registration.

The Market Data Retrieval which also had its independent survey revealed that campuses are spending as much as $2.7bn on equipment, software and hardware purchases – or an increase of 9% as compared to last year. The survey also showed many universities are competing to give better services for students online – and also aimed at increasing the number of online enrollees for the next school year.

The increase in more enrollees online, the survey said, is also attributed to more adults that enrolled online to finish their degrees. The adult population is now making use of the online education so that they can complete from their lost education during the past decades due to lack of education opportunities as well as financial capability and several other factors.

Since ages it was held that full time education is the best and the learning experiences gained in educational institutes cannot be compensated by private tuition and study. By definition, a Diploma is ‘a document issued by an educational institution, such as a university, testifying that the recipient has earned a degree or has successfully completed a particular course of study.’ Whereas, a Certificate is ‘a document issued to a person completing a course of study not leading to a diploma.’
However, these definitions do not completely explain the difference between a Diploma and a Certificate. Usually, the Diploma courses cover subjects in greater depth and in a broader way, while the Certificate courses are likely to be more specialized with a tighter syllabus. Certificate programs are usually completed faster than the diploma, and may or may not have any requirements at all.

By tradition, diplomas were given to high school students after they have completed their high school studies. Though, there are some adults who decide to get their high school diploma later in their lives. For them, a General Education Development Test (GED) was introduced. A number of colleges are offering adult education classes to help adult students pass the GED. These schools often offer diplomas to students who pass certain courses.

On the other hand, Certificates are different than diplomas because they are given out to students who have passed a particular course of study. This may or may not be related to high school graduation requirements. Certificates prove that students have completed and mastered a particular skill. This skill is usually associated with a job requirement.

Unfortunately, at some institutions, the difference between diplomas and certificates can become a little confusing. Some colleges simply call their certificate programs “diploma” programs. The only difference is in the name. It’s useful to contact a potential employer and ask them if a certain college course fulfills their job requirements.
